When I was offered a chance to purchase cherry used on a recent build by local architect Dan Schlatter, I jumped at it. The cherry was from a tree in Warsaw. Schlatter’s reputation includes being a past president of the local builder's association as well as being featured on tv. It has been inspiring to see several of his custom houses and the thorough eye for detail and quality that go into each build. Examples of his work can be found here and his tv episode here.

Better hardware and better materials make a better drawer. The drawers on the hard maple dovetailed drawers above were completed with cherry fronts and Blum soft close hardware.

Cutting boards
Closed grained hardwoods create premium cutting boards, both aesthetically pleasing and more hygenic. Some of my favorites individually or together are: walnut, hard maple, cherry, quarter sawn sycamore, and white oak.
Cutting boards are finished with a 100% pure tung oil and citrus solvent blend that creates a premium food grade finish. I purchase both from Real Milk Paint.
Kitchen Island
Increase your storage, organization, serving room and prep space with a kitchen island! This cherry wood island with top, 2" thick, finished with multiple coats of 100% pure tung oil, features additional storage space and houses pullout recycling and trash containers.
Portable coffee and bourbon bar box
Credit to Shaper Origin Gin Box. This variation features a solid walnut casing, walnut shiplapped back panel and sycamore shelves. It serves as a pick me up coffee bar in the morning and doubles as a bourbon bar box at night to wind down.
Live edge shelves
These live edge walnut shelves were designed for a client's breakfast nook at a local bed and breakfast. The client provided dimensions and installed the shelving themselves.
